Mann Law is led by Nelson Mann, who, as a graduate of Duke Law School, was a corporate and real estate attorney for 32 years with what became one of the country’s largest multi-state firms. Serving primarily as outside general counsel to many of his clients, Nelson became keenly aware of the interface between business and legal strategies.
Working with Entrepreneurs
Nelson is beginning the next phase of his career in which he works with entrepreneurs and growth company executives using creative fee arrangements, taking into consideration their personal financial situation. He fully appreciates the careful financial planning and budgeting a small business must do to be successful. The goal of Mann Law is to assist entrepreneurs and growth oriented companies realize their dreams by becoming a trusted advisor to business executives and to utilize legal services efficiently to grow their companies.

Economic Development & Entrepreneurship
Nelson served as Chairman of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, where he founded the Animal Health Corridor, was a member of the Steering Committee for the Kansas City Life Sciences& Convergent Technologies Roadmap and served on the Boards of a number of economic development agencies such as the Kansas City Area Development Council.
Public/Private Partnerships
As one of the first scriveners of the Angel Tax Credit Act and the Kansas Economic Development Act, which established the Kansas BioScience Authority, Nelson understands the critical relationships between public policy and the private sector. Nelson spun out the Kauffman Fellows Program from the Kauffman Foundation and the State Science & Technology Institute from the Battelle Institute, formed the Overland Park Chamber Foundation, and currently is serving as a member of Mid-America Angels, the President of Brush Creek Enterprise Center (the Missouri DED Innovation Center for the KC region), and as a Board member of the UMKC Bloch School’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. |
